I cannot believe it's been a year since we welcomed our little man into our lives. It seems like yesterday, when we heard his voice (scream!) for the very first time. He was so fragile, and little at 6.3 lbs and he measured 50.5 cm. Today, a year later he weighs in at 23.8 lbs and he is 78.5 cm tall.
Noah has grown to be a little toddler, a little man with his own personality. He is obviously growing well, he's eating well, sleeping well, he is learning lots. Every day something new. He's got 5 teeth. He's happy, chatty, loving, mostly smiling, has a mind of his own and can be stubborn, too. He gives kisses, claps his hands, waves good bye. He says mama, and dada. He cries when he is being told "NO", or when he doesn't get his way. He loves to play with his ball, and loves to read his books. He is a perfect little boy full of life. He is our perfect little boy.
Happy 1st Birthday Noah James. We love you.
On March 26, 2010 we celebrated his birthday with our friends and family. We rented a room at the Mt. Pleasant Community Center, invited the kids for a playgroup, followed by pizza and cake for the birthday boy. Unfortunately Noah was a little bit under the weather, he was pretty tired, overwhelmed at times and cranky towards the end of the day (who wouldn't be, really?).
But as usual, he has proven to be a trooper - he ate, played, laughed, posed for pictures - he had fun, nevertheless!
Very special was that Omi Roswitha from Germany came all the way to Vancouver to celebrate Noah's birthday with us. Thank you Omi! I loved having you around!
Thanks everyone for coming and helping to make Noah's first birthday special - he won't remember, but the pictures will help him getting an idea of what his first birthday was all about. Thank you to our friend and very talented photographer Mat Lo for taking pictures during the party!
Check out some of the pictures below.
Unser perfekter kleiner Junge.
Herzlichen Glueckwunsch zum ersten Geburtstag Noah.
Wir haben dich wahnsinnig lieb, kleine Maus.

The birthday theme... "On the night you were born".. Noah's favorite book of all times by Nancy Tillman.
Here is the story:
On the night you were born,
The moon smiled with such wonder
That the stars peeked in to see you
And the night wind whispered,
“Life will never be the same.”
Because there had never been anyone like you…
Ever in the world.
So enchanted with you were the wind and the rain
That they whispered the sound of your wonderful name.
(The sound of your name is a magical one.
Let’s say it out loud before we go on.)
It sailed though the farmland
High on the breeze….
Over the ocean…
And through he trees…
Until everyone heard it
And everyone knew
Of the one and only ever you.
Not once had there been such eyes, such a nose,
Such silly, wiggly, wonderful toes.
(In fact I think I’ll count to three
So you can wiggle your toes for me)
When the polar bears heard,
They danced until dawn.
From faraway places,
The geese flew home.
The moon stayed up until morning next day.
And none of the ladybugs flew away.
So whenever you doubt just how special you are
And you wonder who loves you how much and how far,
Listen for geese honking high in the sky.
…They are singing a song to remember you by.
Or notice the bears asleep at the zoo.
… It’s because they’ve been dancing all night for you!
Or drift of to sleep to the sound of the wind.
…Listen closely … it’s whispering your name again!
If the moon stays up until morning next day,
Or a ladybug lands and decides to stay,
Or a little bird sits at your window awhile.
It’s because they’re all hoping to see you smile…
For never before in story or rhyme
Not even once upon a time
Has the world ever known a you, my friend,
And it never will, not ever again.
Heaven blew every trumpet
And played every horn
On the wonderful, marvelous
Night you were born.
The Birthday Cake.
Der Geburtstagskuchen!
